"Anabelle, that t-shirt is obscene," Billy exclaimed as she stepped into the bookshop.

"Oh it isn't that bad. I like it."

"Well you'd better hope none of the children come in. Tea?"

"If you're offering," she said with a grin, sitting down in one of the chairs. "How's your day been?"

"Fine, my dear, just fine. Are you looking forward to London?"

"Of course," she called as he went to the office to put the kettle on. "I've never been."

"Never?" Billy asked, raising his eyebrow. "How unusual."

Anabelle shrugged. "It's expensive enough to fly to France, after all. Where's your better half?"

"Re-organising the children's section with the cat," Billy said with a slight roll of the eyes.

Anabelle laughed. "I'm sure Wilde's helping tremendously."

"Oh, of course," Billy said, nodding. "When I went in five minutes ago he was singing to him and getting him to do the actions to 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes'.

"Can he do them?" Anabelle asked, raising her eyebrows.

"Only with a wee bit of help," Billy replied, handing her a cup. "There you are, lass."

"Ah, thanks," Anabelle said, tucking one of her legs up underneath her. "Got wedding jitters yet then?"

"I wouldn't call them jitters. It's a bit of a hassle sorting everything out, but he mostly tells me what to do and I take care of it. The people on the other end of the line are speaking French, you know, it makes him nervous."

Anabelle laughed and nodded. "Poor baby. He's enjoying himself though, isn't he?"

"Oh, immensely so. I can barely move around the flat without tripping over a wedding magazine."

"I heard that, Boyd!"

"Well it's true, yeh numptie. D'you want tea?"

"Go on, then!" Dom called, walking into the main bit of the shop with Wilde in his hands. "Anabelle!" he exclaimed. "Hi!"

"Hello, darling, how are you?" she asked, grinning and standing up to kiss his cheeks. "Looking forward to your fabulous bachelor's party yet?"

"It's called a stag night, love!" Billy shouted from the office.

Dom giggled and nodded. "We are. It's going to be very very fabulous."

"Oh yes it is," Anabelle agreed with a grin. "Andy's got wonderful ideas, and so does your brother, I hear."

"I don't want to hear them!" Dom said. "I love surprises."

"My lips are sealed, don't worry," she replied as Dom put Wilde down and he started banging into her legs a few times before trotting off in the other direction.

"So spastic," Dom said, grinning as he watched Wilde curl up on the bottom shelf of one of the larger bookshelves.

"Is he coming to the wedding?" she asked, laughing.

"No," Dom said with a little pout. "Billy wouldn't let me."

"There would be all kinds of rules, love. You can't just cross a national border with an animal for a week," Billy pointed out, handing Dom his tea and sitting next to him on the sofa.

Dom huffed. "Still not fair."

"Hmm, well. I say so," Billy teased, kissing the back of Dom's neck. "So, Anabelle, seduced any gorgeous French women lately?"

"Alas, no," Anabelle said with a sigh. "Think I'd be here talking to you losers if I had?"

"Touché. I hear that Amélie girl's single."

"Isn't she like, sixteen?"

"Ah," Billy said. "Possibly."

"I think she's nearly thirty, love, but probably not a lesbian," Dom said.

"Story of my life. Maybe I need to open a bookshop and some gorgeous woman will waltz in one day and ask me out. Hey, can I borrow yours?" she asked, grinning at Billy.

"My bookshop or my woman?" Billy asked, grinning back.

"Psh, you can have her. I meant the shop, it has good luck."

"Hey! Both of you, no biscuit!"

"Oh, don't be mean, lad," Billy said, grinning and kissing Dom again. "You know I love you."

"Hmm, I suppose."

"You two are ridiculous," Annabelle exclaimed, just as the bell rang on the children's side of the shop and Mary and her father walked through the divider.

"Little Miss Craig, hello!" Dom said, grinning as he sat up. "And Mr. Craig! How nice to see you both. Tea?"

"Oh, we can't stay long," Mr. Craig replied. "We were only on our way to the park and Mary wanted to stop in. "How are you both?"

"Very well, thank you," Billy said, smiling as Mary climbed up between them. "And yourself?"

"Just fine. How are the wedding preparations coming along?"

"Fine, I think," Billy replied. "Although I'm not really the man to ask," he said, nodding at Dom who had started playing tic-tac-toe with Mary.

"Of course," Mr. Craig said, laughing. "She's very excited about it as well."

"I'm glad," Billy said. "Is her dress okay?"

"Oh, it's just lovely. Have you picked out your kilts yet?"

"Yes," Billy replied, smiling. "Boyd tartan, we'll have them fitted the week before the wedding."

"Ah, lovely. I suppose it's a good thing you aren't both Scottish, isn't it? Wouldn't know whose tartan to wear."

Billy laughed. "That's very true," he said. "It's been a game getting him to stop worrying about wearing a kilt."

"Now I distinctly remember him saying something about wanting to see you in one, however."

Billy laughed again. "He's been very insistent about that."

"Well I'm sure it will be a lovely day no matter what you're wearing. Did you happen to have that novel in for me, by the way?"

"Oh, yes, of course! Just a tic, I'll grab it for you."

"Cheers."

"Where's the cat, Mister Monaghan?" Mary asked, cocking her head to the side.

"Hmm, let's see. Wilde? Wilde, are you around here?"

Suddenly, Wilde came running out from the bookshelf and jumped up onto Mary's lap, mewling happily.

"Wilde!" Mary cheered, petting his head. "Poor little blind Wilde."

Dom laughed. "He seems perfectly happy though, yeah?"

"Yes," Mary said, nodding decisively. "Because you taught us that we can be happy even if we're not perfect."

Dom grinned and ruffled her hair, beaming up at Billy. "That's exactly right."
