they say i'm twenty-eight years old today
but i'm not

not really.

not when the accident
that took you from me
(six months, twelve days, fourteen hours, seven minutes ago)
stopped time
stopped my heart from feeling
stopped my soul from dancing.

our friends, our family,
they reach out, try to help me heal
let's go to lunch, lij, they say.
you should get out.
there will be other loves, they say.
he would want you to move on.

but we loved too well.

they say it's my birthday
but i'll always be
