The Mirror, 18th December
We knew fireworks were going to go off sooner or later. TV presenter Orlando Bloom publicly dumped boyfriend of 2 years, singer and musician Elijah Wood, yesterday in Nobu, London. Other diners say Bloom used inappropriate language and admitted to a 6 month affair with on-air partner Dominic Monaghan. Wood is said to be upset and Monaghan 'uncomfortable' with the situation.

"Hey." Orlando sat down at the table he had reserved for lunch. Elijah, already there, gave him a small smile.

"This is nice," he said. "What's the occasion?"

"Nothing, nothing," Orlando said, not meeting Elijah's eyes. A waiter was approaching. They both ordered, and Orlando folded up his menu.

"Actually, I just wanted to let you know where I stand, with regards our relationship."

"Oh?" Elijah's heart began to thump a little faster, but he raised an eyebrow casually.

"Yeah. Well, erm, I guess you think, too, that things aren't going as well as they could be?"

"Right..."

"I mean...no offence, but you're pushing me away, Elijah."

"I don't think I am." Elijah fidgeted with his napkin. "No, I think it's you as well as me."

"We've never really had a great sex life, have we?" Orlando said, lowering his voice. "I mean, the spark just wasn't there. Lord knows I tried - I tried every trick I could think of, but you just had no interest."

There was nothing to say. Elijah glanced round, then back to Orlando, helplessly.

"I...I don't think you can blame me, for playing away."

A moment of silence. "What?"

"I've been having an affair, Elijah. Since about June."

The world began to spin slowly. Elijah took a hold of the table to anchor himself.

"You've been cheating on me?"

"Yeah." Orlando licked his lips nervously. "Sorry."

"Who?"

Orlando tried hard to guess how Elijah was feeling. His face was impassive.

"Dom," he said, quietly.

Elijah gave a quick shake of his head. "Don't do this to me, Orli. Tell me it's not true."

"Why should I, Elijah? We haven't shared so much as a handjob since September. Did you really expect me to resign myself to a life of celibacy just because you have no sex drive?" Orlando stood up, pulling on his coat. "I f**king wasted two years of my life with you - God, I don't even think I ever loved you. I can't throw any longer away on you, Elijah." He headed for the door.

Elijah stood up, half-thinking of going after Orlando - but changed his mind. Instead he cancelled the order and paid a small bill, then left.
