FIC: A Heart For Any Fate.
A Heart For Any Fate.
Islantia teeters on the brink of civil war. On one side, the King, his sons Marton and Orlando and his eldest illegitimate child, Eric, Duke of Norwood. On the other, the King's cousin, the Earl of Carlyle, who would crown his son, Viscount Roxley, in King John's place.
Of the three sons, Orlando is most like his father; the Crown Prince and the Duke the better men. Marton is betrothed to the Lady Olivia whom he does not love. Orlando, the profligate prince of a dissolute father, desires Olivia and she him.
Karl, a hunter from the high country, is called up to join the Royalist army. With him he unknowingly brings the most unlikely of companions, a protector like no other and one which will see him sent spinning into the intriguing heart of the royal family, wherein lies love, treachery and betrayal.
