Disjoining
Dom/Billy

Billy's eyes followed Dominic as he moved back and forth between the dresser and the bed, filling the oversized duffle with every pass. The bright, green eyes remained fixed on his friend for a while before he spoke, his voice escaping quietly.

"So..." The word trailed off as he took a deep breath, not quite sure what else he wanted to say. "Tomorrow's the day." A statement, not a question.

They'd both knew that the day would arrive when they would be separated, but as every day passed, they'd tried to put that thought out of their heads. Neither wanted to be at the point where they had to say goodbye. And yet, here they were.

"Yeah. It is."

Dom's response was almost a whisper; as if it had been a chore to release it. Billy could certainly understand that as he had that same choked feeling, that same knot tightening in his throat and his chest. Though his every intention was to appear as lighthearted about this as he could be, it wasn't working. His own underlying feelings of sadness were slowly making their way to the surface. He didn't want to think about how much this was actually breaking him, tearing him up inside.

"All done, then."

Billy had been so lost in his own thoughts, he hadn't even noticed that Dom had filled the bag beyond the capacity of the seams. The sight of that poor, pitiful bag would have made Billy throw out some smart comment - until he saw the look on Dom's face. Blue eyes, staring at him, expectantly.

This was it. He was leaving.

Billy didn't know who took the first step, if it was Dom's arms that circled him or his own that reached out for contact initially, but he found himself sharing a warm embrace, Dom's face buried in his neck. It didn't surprise him, this. How easily his own arms had wound around Dom's waist, pulling his body tightly against him. How comfortable it felt, Dom's solid weight tucked against his own body.

Two friends - best friends - who loved one another. That's what they were and had been for quite a while if Billy were honest with himself about it.

It just -- It felt so natural to have Dom there, so close to him, as they were never lax in showing their affection for one another. Just so natural.

He'd almost missed the shift, the charge that moved through the air, and before he knew it, he felt Dom's lips skimming his cheek as he pulled away, their faces close together. He brought his hand up to caress Dom's cheek, the stubble on his jaw strangely feeling both rough and soft beneath his palm, tickling slightly as Dom began turning his head, his lips finally making contact with the soft flesh of the inside of his hand. Billy couldn’t deny the fact that he hadn't been prepared for that action, but he didn’t pull his hand away. Instead, he became fascinated by the softness of Dom's lips against the center of his palm, the way Dom's hand came up to cover the back of his as he planted a second kiss there. Billy watched Dom's face, seeing his eyes slide closed as he pressed the third kiss to the now-sensitive spot, shaking fingers slowly turning his hand over as Dom's lips continued brushing lightly against his skin. He inhaled, the flutters in his stomach becoming stronger, more insistent, because he now knew.

They weren't going to stop at just this.

Dom kissed his way up his arm, not in the manner of Valentino in those silent movies. This was slower, more reverent. Genuine. And what was it that made him keep his arm still? That made him allow Dom to feather kisses up his arm, along his shoulder and around his...

"Oh..."

Billy couldn't keep the sound from rushing from his lips when he felt those lips kiss the base of his neck, stubble tickling his collarbone and he suddenly grew too impatient to wait any longer. He laced his fingers in the hair on the back of Dom's head, pulling him up higher so he could taste that mouth that had been driving him mad. His lips pressed in close to Dom's, a bright rush washing over him when he felt Dom's tongue slipping out to rub lightly along his bottom lip. With parted lips, he moaned, allowing Dom's tongue to slip inside and the heat... He trembled when he felt the deep glide of Dom's tongue against his, his arms tightening around his waist as he stepped closer still.

Bliss. Pure, fucking bliss. Something that Billy would have never expected to experience with Dom. Not at all like this. But here he was, losing himself totally and completely in Dom's perfect mouth that devoured his own perfectly and he was going to go to an early grave, and it would all be perfect. Everything would be...

Five quick raps at the door and then - "Dom? Billy? You in there?"

Elijah.

They separated when they heard the fingers jiggling the handle, trying to open the door to the trailer. For a second, Billy wondered if either of them had remembered to lock it, but when Elijah never materialized inside, he knew they were safe.

"Hey! Anyone in there?"

Billy looked at Dom who was staring at him and he could tell by that look that he had to be sharing the very same thought.

Fuck.

They held their breaths, not saying anything and then they heard - "Must not be in there. Let's see if they're at Orli's."

Sean's voice that time, but they didn't exhale until they heard the voices move further away from the door. Billy noticed that Dom's lips were swollen and all he wanted was to lean in and kiss them, run his tongue over them again and taste their sweetness...

"Eh... Bill?"

Dom's voice sounded pretty -- casual. Billy could do casual. Just act as if his world hadn't just been thrown off its axis, threatening to toss him off the edge of it. Sure. How hard could it be?

"Yeah?"

Good. He'd done casual very well. Dom's response was to open his mouth as if to speak, closing it again just as quickly, looking more uncertain than Billy remembered seeing him look before.

"Look Dom. It was just..."

His voice trailed off as he listened to his own words. Just what? Just a kiss? He couldn't remember any other kiss he'd had that made him feel that way. Made him feel as if everything had been turned completely around, but in the right way. Made him feel like... this was something that he felt he had been missing.

"Right, then."

And suddenly, closing the bag was the most important task on Earth for Dom and Billy knew that the moment had passed. There was no way to get it back. Dom had finished the sentence for him in his mind and proceeded to turn the world back on its axis. Except now, everything seemed all wrong. He thought of a million things to say to try and explain to Dom what he meant. To try and tell him that no, it wasn't just a kiss and he was an idiot for even beginning to say so, but no. It was too late.

"I'll um... see if I can find Sean and Elijah," Billy said quietly, his voice heavy with regret, though he wasn't sure if Dom would hear it or even care.

"Yeah. Tell 'em I'll see them in a bit. Meet you all at Orli's then we'll hit the pub."

Billy nodded slowly though he knew Dom's eyes weren't even on him and he turned to unlock the trailer door. As he stepped outside into the cool, crisp night air, he couldn't help but wonder what had just happened back there.

What had he just lost?

He closed his jacket tightly around him, though the warm fleece couldn't warm the chill that moved through him.
