Title: Silence
Author: Ireth
Rating: PG, angst
Pairing: VigOrli
Summary: Silence can sometimes be your saviour...
Notes: The first VigOrli I've ever put up for public viewing. I really don't understand why I write angst when I'm insanely happy...
Silence, a moment forever lost in time to only those who experience it. A second, two, filled with meaning and emotion that will never be recovered or relived.
That's exactly how it is for them now, eyes staring, minds racing, trying desperately to think of something to say to the other. Trying to find an excuse, a reason, something to say to break the tension between them. Brown eyes and grey, tear-filled and pained, echoes of their breaking hearts shown in their depths. Words hang in mid air, consequences foretold in the stinging break between them. Neither will beg; they know the time has come.
Never again.
Finality stricks through their souls. No more loving kisses or passionate embraces. Never again would he be able to brush curls of silk from his lovers' eyes. In the moonlit room, he can see the tears escaping from the younger man's eyes. Tenderly, he lifts a hand to brush them away, palm resting on a soft cheek for a moment too long. Not long enough.
I wish...
Lips frozen in despair warm to a smile.
I know. So do I.
The figure opposite him rises and approaches him, hands lifting to his shoulders and curling around his neck in a hug. The usually strong body trembles against his own with unshed tears and bottled emotion. When each are alone, they will mourn for their mutual loss. But until then arms hold each other close in what will be their last ever hug, trying to comfort when all they need is for this very silence to drift away and let their hearts beat as one.
