OT: Webhost search for Mirrormere? (RPS/FPS)

For a small archive, Mirrormere at http://avia.silverbloom.net/mirror/ has had its ups and downs, but one thing that has grown is bandwidth usage**.

While there is an archive staff, I could never ask them for funding because they generously contribute their time with site management. And I couldn't ask visitors or authors for donations because they donate by sharing their works and reviews and there are bigger organizations that need donations. So, my option left is to find an affordable webhost because I don't have the budget. Mirrormere's current host is quoting $60/month, if the site is to stay (250megs diskspace and 80gigs bandwidth). Slashcity has quoted a more generous package at nearly that price. However, as reasonably priced as those fine hosts are considering they are not overselling their resources, the price is unfortunately out of my budget. I'm currently paying $18/month for 500megs diskspace and 20gigs bandwidth.

I'm asking if folks can either post or privately email webhosting suggestions, please? My address is redina [@] mindspring.com. I'm researching various suggestions received.

Requirements:
I'm looking for 250megs diskspace, 75-80gigs bandwidth,
MySQL/PHP/Perl, and room on the Terms of Service (i.e. TOS that won't get its panties in a twist over fanfic).

Would be very nice in transferring the site faster:
SSH/telnet access

I know DreamHost has popped up as a rec among fandom folk but I also remember their servers can get slow during promo periods of growth and overselling resources.

Thanks, if this is possible.

Dina

For a plan as big as one you're looking for, I could only suggest taking a look at ResellerZoom.Com (http://www.resellerzoom.com) (and leaning back from the keyboard so you don't drool all over it. :P). The Budget Two (http://www.resellerzoom.com/budget-reseller.shtml) plan they have available looks like it'd fit quite well your requirements, and it also costs less than you're currently paying: $12.95/month for 5000MB space, 75GB bandwidth.

Or, as you can see, for a dollar more than you're paying now, Budget Three: 8000MB space, 125GB bandwidth.

The crazily fantastic affordability of RZ might sound too good to be true, but I honestly can't remember ever hearing a complaint about them; my closest online friend has used them for some months and has never mentioned a thing wrong with them since she switched over; and a very respected close acquaintance recommends them as well. I myself will be transferring over to them as soon as I outgrow my current space allocations with my own host.

Best of luck finding your host! I hope I've been able to help somewhat. :)

*smacks forehead* Sorry, one little amendment: 120GB bandwidth on Budget Three, not 125GB. My bad!

Also, because I forgot to look and mention, if you breeze through the plan feature pages below the plan outlines on that Budget Reseller page, you'll see that RZ offers access to all of those things you mentioned (MySQL, PHP, Perl, and some SSH thing, though I'll admit I don't know what that is, so it might not be exactly what you're looking for).

Anyway, sorry again. I'm terrible at getting all my thoughts into one comment.

Hi,

I don't have any experience with them so far, but have you tried godaddy.com? Good luck.
