Summary:
If you can't wake up in the morning
Cause your bed lies vacant at night
If you're lost, hurt, tired or lonely
Can't control it, try as you might
May you find that love that won't leave you
May you find it by the end of the day
You won't be lost, hurt, tired and lonely
Something beautiful will come your way
(Robbie Williams – Something beautiful)
“Wow, that was terrific!”
Viggo smiled. “Thanks.”
“No really,” Elijah added. “It was amazing. You truly are Aragorn. Peter has made the right choice.”
Viggo thanked the younger actor once more. He didn’t know why, but somehow, getting in character was much easier for him than usual. They had just finished his first scenes fighting the Nazgul, and he was very satisfied with his work. He had been pretty nervous before. The time to prepare for these first scenes had been rather short. However, once he was in costume and felt the weight of his sword, things just clicked.
“So say, Viggo,” Elijah asked, “Have you already met everyone?”
“No, not all, I guess. There really are a lot of people around here.”
“Yeah, you’re right. Well, there’s…cool, there’s Orli! Met him?”
Viggo shook his head and turned around to say hello to just another castmate.
‘I knew it, he’s much older,’ was what Orlando thought when he saw Viggo for the very first time in person. And he just couldn’t imagine that this man would be able to replace Stuart. As nice as all the others were, he stilled missed his friend.
“Hi, I’m Orlando,” was the first thing he actually said.
Viggo smiled and shook his hand. “Viggo. Aragorn. You’re the elf?”
“Legolas. Prince of Mirkwood, trustful member of the Fellowship and loyal friend to the future King of men. One of your best mates, so to say.” He was babbling, but he was just too curious to find out what the new one was like. If he could deal with him at all.
“I see,” Viggo said smirking “guess we’ll be spending lots of time together then, huh?”
Orlando shrugged. “Guess so.”
“Hey Viggo,” Elijah interrupted. “We’re having some kind of get-together at the hotel bar tonight, to get to know you better. You’ve heard about that?”
“Yes. PJ already told me.”
“Oh, cool, you’re gonna come then, yes?” Elijah seemed excited.
“Of course. I need to find out something quite important.”
Both Elijah and Orlando wondered, what this might be.
Viggo soon found out that the local beer was really good.
He sat at the bar, talking to and drinking with Sean Bean, and had a good time. Maybe the decision to do all this had been a good one. He couldn’t explain why, but he started to enjoy it. His castmates all seemed to be nice and likable. He had done great work so far. Plus, the beer was okay.
Later that night, after a lot of talking to people he’d now spend a long time with, Viggo’s thoughts changed a bit. He missed Henry already and felt a bit lost. His son had been a very close and important person in his life lately. He’d have to invite him soon. Viggo looked around, saw all those people, and wondered how close he would become with *them*. Viggo stood up and stepped outside in need of fresh air.
Orlando finished his beer and decided to take a break from all the talking and laughing. He stepped outside and lightened up a cigarette. He inhaled and closed his eyes to sense the mix of cool night air and the smoke filling his lungs.
When he looked up again, he saw someone standing not too far. His back was turned to him, but Orlando was sure to recognize Viggo. He went closer. The older man was staring at the sky.
“Hey,” Orlando said, “what you’re doing?”
Viggo didn’t turn around. “Looking,” he answered.
Orlando stood next to him, looking at the sky as well. “At what?”
“At the stars.”
“Aha.”
Orlando tried to understand that. What was it supposed to mean? Was it a joke? Or was Viggo serious? This man is strange, Orlando decided. But interesting.
“Viggo,” he said, “why are you doing it?” He was slightly drunk, not as much as it really would matter. It was more a comfortable dullness beginning to take hold of him. And he began to like the idea of watching at the stars.
“Well, I think it’s beautiful. I can’t see such a sky in L.A. at night.”
“I see.” Orlando paused. Viggo’s right, he thought. The sky *was* beautiful, he hadn’t noticed it yet. This man was surely interesting. He wanted to find out more about him.
“I’ve heard, you’re an artist. What do you do?”
“Different things…I paint, write, take pictures, whatever mood I’m in.”
“Sounds good. Are you gonna do anything like that here?”
“Maybe I’ll take some pictures, we’ll see.”
Viggo finally turned around to look at Orlando. He would surely take pictures of *him*. Orlando was a handsome young man, and why shouldn’t he get some inspiration from him? He had some fine features, and Viggo wondered what he would look like in costume. He was a bit relieved that Orlando seemed to be a nice person as well. He’d have to work with him very often, after all. And he’d have to know him better.
Orlando tossed out his cigarette. “Hey, Viggo, see you tomorrow. I’ll get some sleep now, there’ll be lots of training ahead.”
Viggo nodded. “Yes, see you then. I’ll finish my beer and leave as well, think. Late enough.”
“Ok then.” Orlando suddenly leaned towards him and hugged him. Viggo was startled at first but hugged back. The young man then smiled at him again and left.
