"Will you two stop meddling?" Dom rand his hands through his messy hair, half in frustration, half in amusement. "Sorry Dom, no can do. We're going to find you a girl if it's the last thing we do!" Elijah grinning from across the coffee table.
"And what if I don't want a girl?" Dom mumbled as he let out a snort. "Then we'll find ye a boy!" Billy laughed as he sipped the steaming mug of coffee. Dom couldn't help but laugh, still amused by the fact that everyone thought he was gay. Even his two best friends were never entirely sure of his sexuality. Dom liked to keep a little mystery about him.
"Even if I did want a girlfriend - which I don't - I could get one without you meddling cunts anyways," he said as he stuck out his tongue at the exasperated hobbits. "Well, what de ye think about Sarah? She's cute!" chimed in Billy. "Yeah, she's cute ... I don't know. I think I'm too hyper for her sometimes. She'd probably end up givin me a few smacks," Dom spoke into his cup, not looking up.
"Cate? Live? They're both sweeties. What about them?" Elijah thumbed at a music magazine sprawled across the table. "I don't know ... why do we have to find me someone again?" Dom huffed. "Because we want ye te be happeh, ye daft wanker. So shut up and let us help!" Billy threw a sofa cushion across the table, laughing in his usual carefree manner. "What about Miranda?"
Dom felt his face flush slightly, despite himself. His ears turned pink, as they always did when he felt embarassed. He hated that fact about himself. He'd always had problems hiding his feelings from people who knew what signs to look for. Elijah and Billy both noticed, exhanging glances as they both grinned. "I think we have a winner!" Elijah exclaimed triumphantly.
"Oh shut up, doodle. We have no such thing!" Dom mumbled, feeling even more embarassed and positive his face was the colour of a tomato by now. So what if he had a crush on Miranda? It's not like she liked him back .... well, as anything more than a friend.
"Och ... ah think we 'ave. Dunnae worreh Dom, we're nae gonnae say anehthin, are we Lij?" Billy playfully smacked Elijah's arm, and Lij nodded his head in agreement, rubbing his now sore arm.
"You'd better not, Boyd. I know where you sleep," Dom deadpanned, knowing Billy could be trusted. You don't spend six months straight with the same person and not learn atleast a little about them. And Dom knew Billy cared too much about him to say a word.
"Well, what are we gonna do about it Dom? I think you should tell her, straight out."
One thing Dom had always loved about Elijah was his honesty. He always told people exactly what he was thinking, and how he felt, no matter what. Dom often wished he could be more like Elijah. "I don't know. I thought she loved Billy." Dom cocked his eyebrow and glaced over to the scot, who was half involved in the Sunday crossword.
"Well, she did say that, but ah'm happily taken. Ah think she's over et anehways. We worked it all out." Billy smiled, winking up at Elijah from the empty puzzle. He'd never been able to finish a crossword, but refused to stop trying. Dom had always admired Billy's perserverance. He never gave up on anything, even if he was getting nowhere. Dom felt his stomach turn a little, envying their happiness together, though he tried to convince himself he didn't. He wished he could find someone to sit with on a Sunday morning, just holding them. Stroking their long strawberry blonde hair as they lay on his chest, talking all day about absolutely nothing. Dom tried to force the image out of his head. No sense in getting hopes up.
"Even so, who says she'd want me?" Dom chewed on his thumbnail, a trait he'd picked up from Elijah. Lij and Billy exchanged glances once more and you could almost see their brains working together, devising a plan. "Um ... guys?"
The two hobbits stood up in unison, heading for the door. "Don't ye worreh Dom ... she'll want ye." Billy smirked as he headed for the door, crossword tucked under his arm. "We'll see ye tonight at the pub!" They snuck off and Dom grumbled to himself. Meddlesome hobbits.
