-Dom Partner: Dom Monaghan
-Sub Partner: Elijah Wood
-Rating: PG-13

SUMMARY: "What exactly did your alien leaders tell you about normal human behavior before they brought you here?"

On any given weekday between the hours of 8:00 PM and 4:00 AM, Dominic Monaghan and Elijah Wood wash dishes at Denny's. They are excellent at their job. They are kings of cutlery. They are princes of plates. They don't mind the night shift.

"Hey, 'Lij, y'know what?" Dom asked, nose still buried in the menu he held in his soapy hands. "It says here that 'twenty cents of every All-American Slam sold at participating restaurants supports the National Civil Rights Museum, dedicated to the cause of justice and freedom for all people.' Freedom, Elijah. Twenty cents worth of Freedom, but Freedom nonetheless." Dominic triumphantly set the Denny's menu.

"Maybe our restaurant isn't participating. Ever think of that?" Elijah glanced at Dom over his shoulder, raising his eyebrows for a moment before turning his eyes back to the sink full of silverware and plates.

"Elijah, you've got to have faith in this fine establishment." Dom gestured vaguely at the room around them, which consisted mainly of sinks and shelves. Elijah looked around and was unimpressed. "Of course our restaurant's participating. And why wouldn't it?" Dom picked up a plate and examined its contents: half a pancake, some scrambled eggs, remnants of bacon and sausage, and a mouthful of hashbrowns. Perplexed, Dom shoved the plate toward Elijah's face. "Hey, d'you think this was an All-American Slam?"

Elijah didn't look at the plate, pushing it away and inspecting Dom's eyes instead. "Are you high? 'Cause your pupils are a little…"

"I'm high on life, my friend! And d'you know what else I'm high on?"

"I think I can venture a guess, yeah."

"Freedom, Elijah! I am high on Freedom! With a capital 'F'!" Dominic looked again at his still unclean plate. "Maybe this isn't an All-American Slam. It could be a Lumberjack Slam. 'I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay, I sleep all night and I work all day…'" Dominic continued to sing the Lumberjack Song under his breath as he finally cleared off the plate he'd been contemplating.

"What exactly did your alien leaders tell you about normal human behavior before they brought you here?"

"Elijah, you've got to lighten up, have some fun." Dom said, laughing, as he took Elijah's hand and began to dance.

"I am having fun. I'm having an immense, insane amount of fun with you at 1:30 in the morning, covered in bubbles and foxtrotting to the Lumberjack Song." Elijah would have continued, but was instead spun around rather forcibly.

"Exactly." Dom switched from Monty Python to Billy Joel and began to sing at the top of his lungs. "'You may be right, I may be crazy…'"

"Dominic!" Elijah hissed, only half-serious. "Ssh, people outside will hear you!" Elijah stopped dancing and swatted at Dom's chest to get him to be quiet. Dominic's grip on Elijah's waist, however, remained strong as he wiggled his hips to his own rhythm.

"'Though it just might be a lunatic you're looking for…' Come on! Freedom, Elijah! 'Turn out the light, don't try to --' Mmmph!" Anything else Dominic planned on singing was swallowed in Elijah's kiss, and Dom tightened his hold on Elijah's hips to draw him closer. Their tongues met as bubbles from the sink floated around the both of them. In the distance, it seemed, they could hear the clinking and clashing of silverware and the low mumbles of the late-night patrons.

"Yeah. Freedom, Dominic. I think I get what you mean," Elijah said, and smiled.
