In his mind, nothing would ever be the same even though nothing had really changed. So they were all leaving and moving across the globe. That didn’t mean things had to change, did it?

Billy stood in the airplane terminal until well after Dom’s plane had taken off. He stared at the monitors constantly changing, unaware of the din around him. To a common passerby he was simply waiting. But what he was waiting on, even Billy didn’t know.

Back at his house, he lay back on his couch and watched the ceiling, tracing patterns with his tired, wet eyes.

-

The first few weeks, Billy called Dom every single day, even if he just got his voicemail. After missing Dom enough times, Billy gave up trying to call.

He talked to Elijah and Sean often enough, even got random calls from Orlando, but started ignoring every single call from Dom.

Lifting his cell phone to his ear, Billy listened as Dom’s worried voice rang out from miles away.

“Billy, where are you? You used to call all the bloody time, now I can’t get you to pick up! Call me. I miss you. I love you.”

Billy hit delete.

-

Billy convinced himself he was doing the right thing. Cutting himself off from Dom was the best thing for both of them. Now they could concentrate on their careers and not have to worry about lovers in other countries.

Billy first realized his plan was flawed when he was talking to his sister and accidentally called her Dom. Then he started missing cues and botching up rehearsals so bad that his director told him to go home and get some rest.

Wandering down the street, he denied to himself it was Dom. To prove it, he headed towards the nearest bar.

-

Seth was a nice enough guy. He was cute with a great ass, and Billy decided he was better than nothing.

Pushed against the brick wall behind the bar, Billy moaned softly as Seth covered him with his warm mouth. Losing his hands in Seth’s hair, Billy started to get close and came, Dom’s name flowing from his lips.

Seth bolted up, punched Billy in the stomach, and stormed back into the club. Billy rolled over, zipped his pants, and threw up. As he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, he finally admitted his plan was bollocks.

-

Billy’s breath caught in his chest when he heard Dom pick up.

“Billy?”

“Dom.”

“Are you okay? You haven’t been returning my – “

“I love you.” Billy rubbed his eyes slowly, ignoring the tears that threatened to escape.

“I love you too, Bill,” Dom said quietly. Billy stared at the ceiling, content on listening to Dom’s even breathing. “Are you okay?”

“No.” Billy admitted it finally, both to himself and to Dom.

“I’ll be there as soon as I can.”

“No, Dom,” Billy protested.

“Don’t move from that couch.”

Billy dropped the phone to the floor, curling into the cushions.

-

Dom gently touched Billy’s shoulder, waking him. Billy blinked a few times before his face broke out into a wide grin.

Jumping up, he wrapped his arms around Dom’s body as he attacked his mouth. He urgently shed Dom of his clothes, pushing him closer to the bedroom with each movement.

Dom fell back onto the bed, pulling Billy down with him. Billy stopped kissing him and stared down into Dom’s face. He trailed a finger along Dom’s cheek, over his lips, and down his chin. Keeping his eyes open and on Dom, he leaned down to kiss him again.

-

Lying his head on Dom’s bare chest, Billy tried hard to be happy. He sighed, making Dom lean down and kiss his hair.

“What is it, love?”

“It’s too perfect. Soon you’ll be gone again, and I’ll be alone deciding it’s better if we aren’t together.”

Dom ran his hand along the side of Billy’s face. “Having a hard time with change?”

“Yeah.” Billy buried his face deeper into Dom’s skin. Dom pulled him closer.

“It doesn’t matter how far apart we are. I love you. That’s all that matters.”

Billy nodded, hoping he could convince his heart to agree.

-

Billy threw his keys down as he walked in the door. It’d been one of those days and all he wanted to do was crawl into bed and disappear.

He picked up his cell phone to call Dom and saw he had a message. He listened as Dom’s voice rang out.

“I know you’re in rehearsal, but I just wanted to remind you that I love you and think about you every waking moment. It won’t be long till we’re back together. Until then, I love you.”

Billy smiled and put down the phone, deciding change could kiss his arse.
