Title: A Warm Night
Author: Rae
Rating: G
Pairing: BB/DM
Feedback: Well, I would appreciate it as this is my first time writing Billy/Dom.
Disclaimer: All lies.

The night smells like grass and the cigarette smoke from the bloke sitting on the bench next to him, and Billy breathes it in gratefully. Air. Lovely. The slight breeze of the night swirls around him gently, causing goose-bumps and bringing a wry smile to his face. Lips curl up slightly, something like warmth-exhaustion. He presses both palms against the seat of the bench, pressing skin against vomitgreen-painted wood. Waits, ever-patiently. Watches the rustling of the trees.

He swings one leg experimentally and then stops. Soft exhilation of breath. He hears the sound of someone running, sneakers slapping against pavement, and Billy turns to the side, glances back to see if it’s Dom.

And it is him; running, looking like a frightful mess. Billy knows that Dom will arrive with a plethora of excuses, a million and one reasons that he couldn’t make it on time. And Billy knows that Dom’s excuses aren’t just words - the other man views those things as having been essencial. Dom had to see a man (or woman - either way, someone vaguely shady) about some strange random thing or another, or get sidetracked by one of the many people that he has met and charmed over the course of his life.

Billy stands up, arms crossed. Taps the fingers of his right hand against the skin of his left arm. Dom reaches him, stops. He is panting slightly and grinning in his ever-typical Dom-like way, his mild scent of sweat and stress and sour apples. “Took you long enough,” Billy comments, but his eyes are like the stars. It reassures Dom that Billy doesn’t really mind.

“I’m worth the wait, though,” Dom says as the two of them head off into the warm summer night.
