Eyes meet. Shy at first. Uncertain. Then longer glances, over time. And steadying, no longer furtive, but sure. Affirmation of something both yearn for and yet do not want.
A gold band separates one from the other, not the band of fiery writing, a simpler one… a band of love.
And yet, love still lingers between the two, out of reach, driving both out of mind. Desire too strong, but they must be stronger still. Resistance is not futile in every case.
Sometimes tears become too much, too overwhelming. But in the end resilience must win out.
Love conquers all.
