Dom awoke to the sound of the tea kettle whistling loudly. When it didn't stop after a couple of minutes he got up off the couch and went into the kitchen. Billy was sitting at the table with a bottle of scotch in front of him, staring at a piece of paper. "Bit early to be hitting the scotch, Bills," Dom said jokingly as he turned the kettle off and set about making the tea. When he didn't get a response he turned around to look at Billy again. "Bills?"

Billy looked up at Dom, then back down at the paper in his hands. He looked back up at Dom and handed him the paper. Dom read it, then sat down and read it again. "Where did you get this?" he asked.

"I went out on the porch for my paper. The bottle was sitting there, with the note attached." Billy was almost trembling with shock. The note had quite unnerved him.

"Shit. This is - - - not good. We need to do something about this," Dom said.

"Like what? What should I do?"

"I don't know. Talk to Peter. He'll know what to do."

"No. I don't want to bother him with this. He's got enough to worry about without having a paranoid hobbit on his hands." The color was starting to rise in Billy's cheeks.

"Well, what else can we do?"

"You know what, Dom? I'm not going to do anything. It's probably just one of my so-called friends taking the piss and trying to get a rise out of me. I'm just going to ignore it." Billy was now quite red in the face. Dom knew this was a sign that he was upset.

"I'm not so sure, Billy," Dom said cautiously.

"Well I am, so just drop it," Billy snapped.

"Alright," Dom reluctantly agreed. But he wasn't happy about it.

*****

Neither Billy nor Dom mentioned anything about the scotch and note when they were back on the set the following day, although Dom's silence was under protest. He really wanted Billy to tell someone, but Billy was intent on ignoring the situation - insisting that it was a joke.

Unfortunately, after filming was ended for the day, the boys walked into the make-up trailer to find another note taped to Billy's mirror. In large, computer generated letters it read WELCOME BACK TO THE SET, BILLY! I MISSED YOU! I LOVE YOU! Once again, no one saw who put it there.

Elijah giggled. "Your secret admirer strikes again!"

"Shut the fuck up, Lij!" Billy's voice was laced with anger.

"Sorry." Elijah stared at him with a hurt look on his face.

The room fell silent as everyone's attention focused on Billy. They had never seen him lose his temper before. Even Ian stepped out from behind his partition, still in his Gandalf make-up. Billy looked around at everyone, then took a deep breath to steady himself. "No, I'm sorry, Lij. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that." He flopped down in his chair and rubbed his hand absently through his Pippin curls.

"You have been a bit on edge all day, my boy. Something has obviously gotten under your skin." Ian's soothing voice eased the tension a bit, and Billy felt compelled to explain.

He pointed to the note. "It's this crap. Third note I've gotten. Someone's idea of a joke, but I don't find it very funny."

"Third?" asked Sean. "I only know of this one and the one from the CD."

Billy looked at Dom. Dom raised his eyebrows and Billy nodded at him before lowering his head into his hands.

"Billy got another one yesterday morning," Dom explained. "It was wrapped around a bottle of scotch and left on his front porch."

"And you didn't tell us about this? Why?" prodded Sean.

"Like I said, as far as I'm concerned someone is playing a joke on me. I don't want whoever it is to get any laughs from seeing me get all paranoid and shit. I just figured if I ignored everything they'd realize the joke wasn't working and stop." Billy kept looking down at his lap as he spoke.

"I don't think it's a joke, Billy," Dom said. Billy raised his head to glare at him.

"Well, joke or not, I want to know who's doing it," Sean said. "Anyone who can sneak around here and do these things without anyone noticing scares me."

"I think we should tell Peter," Dom suggested again.

"Dom - - -" Billy began, but he was interrupted by Ian. "I agree - you should tell Peter. Joke or not - this is a problem. It is upsetting to you, and the sooner a stop is put to this, the better it will be - for all of us."

Billy looked at him, then glanced at the concerned faces of his friends. He sighed in defeat, and acquiesced. "All right. I'll talk to Peter. I just - feel so stupid bothering him with this."

But Peter didn't think it was a bother at all. He agreed it was a problem, and over the next few days called several cast and crew meetings to inform everyone that harassment would not be tolerated. He also hired extra security. It didn't help.

Over the next few weeks notes were found everywhere - the make-up trailer, costuming, the food tent and, on one occasion, on Peter's chair. All of the notes said pretty much the same thing - I'm watching you, I love you, do you love me yet? - and they were all computer printed, so handwriting couldn't be used to find the person. Often the notes were accompanied by small gifts like an embroidered handkerchief or a new coffee mug.

There was nothing overtly threatening about the items, but Billy was getting more and more nervous about the situation. As much as he didn't want to admit it, he finally had to face the facts:

-- This was not a joke
-- This was not just a secret admirer
-- He was being stalked

*****

The stress of being stalked began to take its toll on Billy. The worry was affecting his health, literally making him sick, but he was able to hide this from everyone - until they filmed Moria.

The actors had never been so cold as they were during the Moria shoot. Cold and wet. By the end of the third day everyone had the sniffles, but it seemed to be hitting Billy the hardest. It took him a long time to warm up that night, and he had developed a bit of a cough. He put on a brave face for the others, but the next morning it was obvious to everyone that he was very ill.

Fran took him to the doctor, who diagnosed pneumonia. Peter quickly rearranged the filming schedule, and the hobbits found themselves with an entire week off. Dom, Sean and Elijah happily volunteered to spend time with Billy while he recovered. After all, he was the reason for their mini-vacation; they weren't going to let him suffer all alone.

*****

Four nights later the hobbits - and an elf - were hanging out in Billy's living room. Elijah and Orlando were sitting on the floor trying to beat each other at the Playstation. It seemed to the others in the room that they were finding excuses to touch each other - bumping knees and elbows or leaning against each other in the attempt to affect each other's concentration.

Sean was sitting in the recliner, alternating between watching Elijah and Orlando's flirting and the action on the playstation. He was also watching Dom and Billy. The two men were on the couch; Dom was sitting at one end, Billy lying down with his feet and lower legs in Dom's lap. Dom was gently rubbing Billy's feet - he knew how much this relaxed Billy - and Billy was quietly sighing in appreciation.

Sean smiled to himself. I wonder. We can all see something with Orli, Lij and Viggo, even if they are too dense to see it themselves. But Billy and Dom? Yeah - there's something there. More subtle and - loving. They're good together. His thoughts were interrupted by a shout from Elijah.

"Ah fuck! I'm out of beer!" He looked forlornly at his empty bottle.

Sean laughed. "I'll get you another." He got up and walked into the kitchen. "Uh oh," the others heard him say. He walked back into the living room and handed a full bottle to Elijah. "Last one, guys. You want me to go for more?"

"Would you, Seanie? That'd be great." Elijah smiled up at him before turning his attention back to the game.

Sean grabbed his jacket and headed out the door. He nearly tripped over a large box that was sitting in the middle of the porch. He felt his stomach drop as he saw the label - computer generated, one word - "BILLY". For a moment he thought about grabbing the box and hiding it - Billy was sick enough without dealing with this - but he knew that was the wrong thing to do. It would only make things worse later. So he picked up the box and went back inside.

"That was a quick trip," quipped Dom. He looked up and saw the expression on Sean's face. "Sean?"

Sean put the box on the coffee table. "Found it on the porch," he said.

Billy sat up and stared at the box. Dom moved closer to him and started rubbing his back, trying to keep him as calm as possible.

Orlando got a knife from the kitchen, sliced the packing tape, and opened the box. He lifted out the contents. It was a basket filled with different varieties of tea, porridge, and soup. There was a note attached. Orlando handed the note to Billy, who read it then handed it to Dom. Dom handed it to the others when he was done.

My Dearest Billy -

Here are some things to help you get better. I know they will help because I picked them out with love just for you, so don't share them with anyone, except maybe me if I was there.

Oh, Billy, how I wish it was me taking care of you instead of your stupid friends. They can't do what I would do for you. I would keep you in bed and feed you soup, but you would probably dribble on your pajamas.

Then I would have to undress you and give you a bath. I would run the washcloth over your chest and back, down your legs and up again. Then I would wash your cock - and you would get hard. And I would have to take care of that, too.

I would take you into my mouth and lick and suck until you came, screaming my name. I bet you taste so good, Billy. I can't wait to find out for real.

Get better soon, my love. I'm waiting for you.
