Title: The Ten Commandments According To Billy Boyd
Pairing: Dom/Billy
Rating: R
Disclaimer: Not mine, never happened.
Summary: Commandment #9: Thou Shall Have Fun At All Costs
Notes: Thanks to Nikki for sitting with me and talking me through a rewrite of the end.

Dom was tired of it all.

He cursed his train of thought, and his apprehension to dive headfirst back into a sex-filled, sex-driven, sex-oriented relationship with Billy. And why? So he could go back to frustration and wanking off in the shower while images of what he actually could have flashed in his mind?

He swam harder and harder as the thoughts kept popping up again and again in his mind, and he knew that he had to put a stop to them somehow. Unfortunately, that meant one of two things.

He either had to break up with Billy once and for all, or he had to make Billy swear to keep their relationship in the more appealing position of stable and monogamous for more than ten minutes. The real problem lay with the fact that Dom himself didn’t actually know which result he was hoping for.

He pushed out against the water a little harder and took a deeper breath before submerging in the water for more swimming, vehemently trying not to listen to whatever Billy was saying to him.

“…can…thick…Dom…” penetrated his ears as he came up for air before there was absolute and heavenly silence with the penetration of his body into water. He continued his swimming and allowed his mind to flood with the presence of both deep thought and memories.

When he finally felt sane of mind, he clambered out of the pool and caught a very sympathetic look that Elijah was shooting his way. He rolled his eyes and contemplated flipping him the bird, but after all they went through to repair the rift they themselves had made, it seemed somewhat counter-productive.

“Billy inside?” Dom questioned Elijah, bouncing a little in anticipation at the thought of finally taking action in their relationship. Elijah nodded and it seemed that he didn’t take his eyes off of Dom as he entered the hotel door with key card in hand.

This was going to be interesting. Dom paced outside Billy’s door for a good five minutes, debating exactly how this was going to start. Maybe Dom could appeal to those bloody commandments that Billy kept toting about and rewriting all the time.

He closed his eyes and dove into the situation, knocking on the door quickly.

There was no turning back.

Commandment Number Nine: Thou Shall Have Fun At All Costs

Billy couldn’t believe this.

He really couldn’t.

Dom had played on Billy’s weaknesses, had done everything right, and yet they still weren’t back together, and frankly it was something that Billy was tiring of quite quickly. Sean had suggested a few days back that they all hang around in the outdoor pool that the hotel housed, and everyone had agreed. The sun was shining and after all, everyone was speaking to each other more or less.

And so, Dom was swimming – athletically so – while Billy simply waded around, trying to get Dom’s attention so he could talk to the man. That night there would be mingling, and there was never a chance to speak privately at those. But no, Dom kept swimming, on and on, and if Billy didn’t know any better, he would say that he was getting ignored.

“Dom?” Billy spoke as Dom was performing his turn around, but all he got was splashing in return. Billy rolled his eyes and made his way to the deep end of the pool, peeking out over the top to see Elijah tanning nearby.

He gave a snort of amusement. Knowing Elijah, he wouldn’t pay attention to how much sun he was getting and that pale skin of his would be rightly red as a lobster within the hour. And then, Billy frowned.

Elijah couldn’t possibly be the reason Dom was ignoring him like this except…

…except that Dom seemed to be constantly uneasy with the topic of Billy and Elijah together. They had only been sorting things out from their previous encounter – not to mention comforting one another with words -- but to anyone else, it would seem much more intimate; a completely different conversation all-together. If by anyone else, you meant Dom.

“You really can be thick, can’t you Dommie?” Billy muttered half to the perpetual swimming machine and half to himself as he climbed out of the water, pulling at the swim trunks clinging to him. He made his way over to a deck chair near Elijah and plunked himself down with a heavy sigh.

Elijah lowered the sunglasses and shot an amused look in Billy’s direction before turning to look back at the pool to see Dom continue his swimming amidst Orlando being dunked by both Craig and Viggo.

“Dom’s there,” Elijah pointed out the figure cutting through water in the pool, and Billy rolled his eyes yet again. Billy worried that he was going to break his eyes by rolling them too much, but if stupid comments like that kept tumbling out of Elijah’s mouth, they would break and he would sic Viggo on the young actor.

“Good for Dom,” Billy muttered lowly, reclining back in the chair and feeling the beginning prickles of the sun shining down on him. Elijah frowned in his direction.

“What, are you two still fighting?”

He received silence in response as Billy grabbed his pair of sunglasses and slid them over his eyes as he closed his eyes in defiance of answering any questions. Elijah was still sitting up and breathing in what felt like a position that was right on top of him and it was annoying the fuck out of Billy.

“Stop it,” Billy muttered, turning on one side.

“What?” Elijah commented with what sounded like outrage.

“Leave the situation be,” Billy spoke slowly and tersely. He grabbed his towel and began his trek to inside the hotel and back onto his room – which, unfortunately, had a ground level window that looked right into the pool. He dried off as quickly as he could and sank down onto the bed, his eyes trailing on his journal lying on top of the table.

With a sigh, he marched right over and flipped the book open. He looked directly at commandment number nine and gave a bitter laugh at his situation and how it was relating.

“Fun,” he commented aloud. A knock on the door interrupted his train of thought though, and he walked straight there to find Dom standing on the doorstep, looking strangely vulnerable. “Dom.”

“Billy,” Dom raised an eyebrow. “So, now that we’ve established that neither of us have amnesia, can I come in?”

“You don’t have to ask,” Billy chided him, and let him walk into the room. There was an uncomfortable silence for a good number of minutes as both man found something to do in the absence of conversation.

“We really do have to talk,” Dom broke the quiet with the impending serious aspects of life.

Billy nodded and leaned against the wardrobe. “This may have all started with fun in mind, but I think we both know it’s more than that.”

“I know,” Billy agreed.

“Billy, those stupid commandments of yours, you follow them to a T,” Dom paused a moment before diving into the real issues. “But that’s what led us astray.”

“Oh, and heaven forbid we actually had real issues,” Billy snarked. Dom gave a terse sigh and nodded a little. “That wasn’t our problem.”

“What is?” Dom questioned. “Why can’t we just be normal?”

“Our lives aren’t normal!” Billy began to give a surprised laugh. “We’re not your average everyday men. We were hobbits for a year and a half and occasionally take up that role again. We fly around the world on a bi-monthly basis to shoot films, promote this epic, and…Dom…we knew what we were getting into…”

“I want more,” Dom cut into the speech and spoke quickly. Billy’s eyes widened a little in surprise. “I mean, we’ll still have everything we do now. The friendship, the workmates, and all…but…Billy,” he looked right into Billy’s eyes; clear and confident. “I can’t go on like this with you; dancing this waltz of ‘is he going to be mine tonight?’ I have to know. Can we please stay in the on position for an indefinite amount of time?”

Dom was giving his heart on a platter, a sleeve, whatever you wanted to call it, to Billy. And there was certainly hope shining through in his voice. Billy closed his eyes and let his thoughts try to sort themselves out naturally.

“Dom,” Billy spoke after a moment. His eyes opened and he regarded Dom.

“Yeah?”

“We started this in fun. What if it isn’t anymore?”

“I promise you there will still be fun,” Dom swore slowly and with a dead serious expression on his face. Somewhere, on some level, Dom understood that this was actually something that Billy needed to hear. Billy’s eyes crinkled, followed by a small genuine smile on his face. Dom felt something akin to relief pass through him.

“I suppose so,” Billy agreed.
