Title: Just have faith
Author: [livejournal.com profile] grizelda
Pairing: None, yet. Viggo's the main character.
Rating: PG/PG13, for attempted suicide.
Crossposted: Yeah, at my own journal.. :)
Archive: Just ask, I hardly ever refuse.
Summary: The job of an angel.
Disclaimer: Not mine. I just use them for my own (sometimes dirty) pleasure. The lyrics at the top are (C)Sarah McLachlan.
Notes: Not too sure about this. I just want to know what you guys think. Viggo as an angel? Yes. Awkward? Yes. Fun to write? Yes. Though at times, confusing. I have no idea where this story will go. And I'm not sure who his own angel is yet, either..

Just have faith

Where there is hatred let me show love
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith
Where there is despair, hope
Where there is darkness, light
And where there is sadness, joy

Viggo smiled when he saw the young men beneath him embrace. Once again, he had saved someone.

Something he did every day.

He glanced at the men one more, and then he disappeared into thin air. Only to appear somewhere else again, where there were other people that needed help.

He ended up on a lonely field, with miles of nothing but grass, plants and a few trees. A young girl was sitting on a branch of one of the trees, tears dripping down her cheeks. A rope was tied tightly around her neck, and she was talking to herself.

"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry.. I just can't take it anymore.. I hate this, hate everything.. I love you, Jamie.. God, I love you, I'm so sorry.."

Viggo swallowed the lump in his throat. No matter how many times he saw people like this, it still hurt him. Especially a girl as young as this one, her life shattered..

He moved closer as the girl's cries became louder, more desparate.

"I'm so sorry, I don't want this anymore.. Someone save me.."

And with those words, she leapt off the branch that has only just supported her. But Viggo also moved forward, catching her just before the rope around her neck tightened and got the chance to cut off her air. He carefully untied the knot and took the rope off the girl's neck, and then he slowly put her down.

She was looking at him with big, teary eyes, filled with confusion and pain.

"Who.. Who are you?"

Viggo smiled. "It doesn't matter who I am. Just listen to me. It's not worth it. You shouldn't throw your life away like this. I know that Jamie wouldn't want you to."

The girl flinched when she heard that name, and her voice was harsh as she answered: "Jamie doesn't care. No one does."

"Jamie does care, trust me. Go back to him, and tell him how you feel. If you don't, you'll regret it. He loves you too, you know."

The girl looked down, tears forming in her eyes once again.

"I don't know.. It's all so hard.."

"I know it is. Living always is hard. But it's worth it."

"I guess you're right."

That's all Viggo needed to hear. He was glad she had realized that she could make something of her life.

"Just go to Jamie. Everything will fall into place, it just needs time. And if you ever feel bad, just know that there's always someone looking out for you."

And then, he vanished. From above he looked at the girl, who, after a few minutes, stood up and walked away. But just before Viggo left the field, she looked up once again and waved to no one in particular. Or so it seemed. Viggo knew it was for him, and he waved back even though she couldn't see it. "Just have faith.."

He helped yet another one. It was his job, after all.

But sometimes, it was so rewarding.

He left, anxious to get back to his own angel.
