There is no Going Back
It's almost outside time, or in two times simultaneously, or making its own time, over time. Not so long ago, really, in the world of days and journeying, measuring progress with tick marks and folds in the map. But another age altogether, nothing the same after as before, every act and feeling redefined.
You know they were close, on and off the screen, and you are glad for it. Over a year, together every day, before sunrise til after moon-set, in rain and snow and hundred degree warehouses tricked out as ancient forests and cindery walls. Support for each other, trusted to be honest about the day's work, each other's growth, as actors, characters, men. You and Hannah found a lot in common in your love for these two; you became good friends yourselves, allies, really when the deeper tides of their connectedness pulled all the loose rubble of your marriage away and exposed the solid core of it to everyone.
And, really, Lij is like a little brother to you, too. He's sweet with the girls, courteous to you, and loves Sean so much. Sean hasn't left you, not for a moment, he's only brought Lij in with him, and it's working out.
So why, right now, does your chest hurt when you think of asking him, telling him about Hannah? No more than hugs and kisses, really, leaning in, not crying out, cuddling, warm and protected. There must be room for her, too, because she's already here. He walks into the room, and catching your eye over her shoulder he smiles, and in your heart you begin to understand...
